Question of the AR series motor control programming

I recently bought AR series linear actuaotr.

I noticed that there are two different PC communication cable at the controller device (ARD-CD).
One of them is for MEXE software and the other one is for RS-485 communication.
And each corresponding softwares of MEXE and RS-485 are provided from Oriental Cop.
The actuator is working well with MEXE software but the RS-485 is not.

Regarding this, I have couple questions.
1. C-DAT/C-ERR does not turn on (it's not red or green, just turn off..) where the RS485 is connected. What does it mean? I checked the line connection.

2. What is the difference between communication used by MEXE software and RS-485? I understand the RS-485 uses the modbus-rtu protocol.

3. Can you provide simple example message of RS-485 to move the motor 100 steps forward?

4. How can I make a program like a MEXE software. Is it different from RS-485 communication?

Hi ycjeong,

The MEXE02 software is designed to only work with the round connector on the ARD-CD driver and the CC05IF-USB cable. It does not work with the RS-485 ports. The RS-485 ports are designed to integrate with master/slave networks with its own software. If you connect the RS-485 ports with Ethernet cables, and try to communicate with the MEXE02 software, the C-DAT or the C-ERR LED's would not turn on and the communication won't work.
