BLEM512-GFS Modbus communication

Post by paulaalarcon1 » Fri Jul 16, 2021 12:17 pm

Hello,

I am trying to communicate with a BLEM512-GFS model brushless DC motor with a BLED12CM-R driver using the pymodbus library of python.
After some unsuccessful attempts we tested the connection using the Comtest Pro software suggested in some other posts of this forum (For example: https://www.orientalmotorforum.com/view ... KjcnBszQpO) but despite not having any kind of error message popping up the motor will not turn on.

I have the switches of the driver set up in the following way:
SW1 = 0
SW2 = OFF OFF
SW3 = OFF OFF OFF ON
SW4 = 0
SW5 = ON ON
With this setup if I turn SW2-1 ON to test communication between driver and motor, the motor rotates in the FWD direction, as expected.

This is the setup that I have in the Comtest Pro:

Note that when I press start I get a valid response and no error but the motor does not turn.
This is the data log:

Observation: after I send the command from above through Comtest Pro the motor stops turning when SW2-1 is ON. If I send a write register command with value 0 to the same address (7Dh), the motor will resume turning when the SW2-1 is turned OFF and ON again. That makes me think that there is communication with the motor but just not the right one.

I am looking forward for any help.

Thank you.

Hello,

The switches and setting all look correct from your description. What you can try is reading the 0481h register to see if the speed setting for No.0 is 0 rpm. If so then you can write to this register to set up the speed. You can set from 80-4000 rpm. This register is on page 98 of the manual.

Hello,

I tried to read the 481h register as suggested and it seems to spill out an error. See image below.

I tried to write 100 rpm to the 481h register and it gives a valid response. See below.

But got the same result as in the original post when trying to write 40 to register 7Dh.

Hello,

If any switches are changed a power cycle would need to be done first. After this you can write then try reading the speed to see if it was written to the corresponding register. I see from your images the com port changes from 13 to 14 are you using 2 different drivers? If possible to read the driver parameters from MEXE02 with the CC05IF-USB communication cables this will help verify if the register is getting written. Also you can can verify if any of the RS-485 I/O has been changed.
