Is it necessary to ground DC drivers?

Postby om_tech_support_JT » Thu Jan 24, 2013 7:18 pm

Q: I know it's necessary to ground AC drivers, but is it necessary to ground DC drivers?

A: The answer is it depends on the specific model number of your product. It also depends on if it's a board-level driver or an enclosed driver. For example, our 24vDC CRD514-KP intelligent driver is an enclosed driver, and it offers a terminal for grounding the driver. Our 24VDC CRD5114P board-level pulse-input driver doesn't. Instead, the metal surface that the driver board mounts to needs to be grounded. Please refer to the operating manual of your product series for the most updated information regarding grounding.
