Q: What are flexible couplings used for?
A: Couplings are for connecting the motor shaft with an external shaft of a different diameter. The coupling willl have one hole on one end to fit the motor shaft, and one hole on the other end to fit the external shaft. Our MCS flexible couplings are couplings with a flexible polyurethane spider in the middle so it "flexes". This flexible spider minimzes torsional stress on the motor bearings in case of small misalignment issues, suppresses motor vibration, and eliminates backlash.
