CVD driver AWO connection

Postby Stepperquiet » Thu Jan 25, 2018 11:52 am

The controller I am using does not have Enable/Disable connections. For my CVD242BR-K Driver, is it reasonable to connect +5VDC to Terminal 5 and using a switch, connect Ground to to Terminal 6 for AWO (All Windings Off)?

Hi Stepperquiet,

If your controller does not have enable/disable connections, then it is reasonable to connect a +5VDC to terminal 5 (AWO+) and connect Ground to terminal 6 (AWO-). Since the input voltage will only be 5 VDC, then you would not need to include the external resistor. However, please note that this input is designed to be used after the motor has stopped moving. If this input is triggered while the motor is moving, then you could risk damaging the driver as additional back EMF could be generated from the motor.
